Ministry to and by women is a vital part of the Adventist church. Historically, women have been key figures in spreading the good news of a Savior longing to rescue His children from this sinful planet.

In spite of the advances in technology, science, and health care we enjoy, the same needs exist today that Jesus encountered: relief from physical, emotional, and spiritual bondage, and a message of hope.

However, ministry is rarely a one-size-fits-all proposition! Women's Ministries is about Women being In Ministry - or as our motto says: A Ministry for Every Woman. This is simply each of us purposefully reaching out to the women Abba places on our path.

Ministry By Design is a booklet outlining resources (many of them free) and ideas for ministering to women you encounter both in and outside of church. Rather than a 'how to do ministry' book, think of it as an idea book to help you design a ministry uniquely fitted to your style, time allowance, and needs.

We are each called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. He provides a clear example of what ministry is in the telling of His own story. There is no 'right' way to minister to others as long as we make the ministry of Jesus our pattern. As His daughters, it is our honor to answer the call to minister to those who are hurting, experiencing great physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs; and longing for a place to call home.

We pray that the pages of this booklet will provide you with resources, ideas, encouragement, and hope for the ministry Abba is calling you to do in His name.

The Women's Ministries Leadership Certification program has come about because we realize the great need for the women of our church to develop skills that will enable them to serve in positions of leadership.

E. G. White reminds us
There is a higher purpose for woman, a grander destiny. She should develop and cultivate her powers, for God can employ them in the great work of saving souls from eternal ruin. Evangelism p. 465

The program is divided into four levels. Each level contains seminars from each of the following subject areas.

History and Philosophy                              Biblical Studies
People Skills/Personal Growth                   Speaking Skills
Leadership Skills                                       Writing Skills
Nurture Projects                                        Outreach Projects

In order for certification to be awarded the participant must complete the required courses in a particular level - these are called Core Requirements. In addition to this, the participant must also complete three other seminars of their choice from among the remaining courses, called Electives.

Each level will be implemented at the conference/mission level on a yearly basis. This means, in three years a participant will have completed all three levels and received three certificates.

We are aware that there are seminars in this course that a participant may have covered before, e.g. Self-Esteem, Discipling New Members, etc. In such cases that course can be omitted and credit will be given.

It is our desire to see women who are called of God for service in these last days empowered to lead. We know that many of you have eagerly awaited this material and are glad that we can finally do our part to meet this need. (NADWM.org)
